This week we had the added excitement of the burglar alarm going off, and one of the WPCs attending had heard of amateur radio and seemed impressed that the school was hosting us.
We welcomed Rob, who found us online recently (thanks for the chocolate biscuits) and is going to get to work on the books with a view to passing all three exams this year so he can operate abroad.
We had surprisingly good results on 40m especially on FT8. We had difficulty with PSKreporter though but it was possibly not working.
JJ gave a very brief demonstration of some PoC radios – and has been persuaded to give a talk on them soon (possibly next month).
The kettle has vanished. We could buy our own but unfortunately with no on-site storage it would be another thing for someone to have to carry back and forth, so until further notice hot drinks are off the menu. On a positive note, there was no BMW parked outside the window we use for the feeders (the only one that opens).
Next meeting is online on 6th October and back at the school on 20th October.
