Next meeting Tuesday 7th July 2026 in William Morris Sixth Form annex

This will be our last meeting at the school until term resumes in the autumn so we’re holding an open evening with a showcase of amateur radio for anyone curious about the hobby.

All going to plan we’ll be showing:

  • Shortwave transmission and reception. Depending on conditions we might reach Spain and Eastern Europe or beyond
  • VHF – chat with other local amateurs in and around London
  • Data Modes – exploiting computers and digital signal processing for very long distance communications using low-power transmission.
  • APRS (position reporting), and an APRS treasure hunt
  • PMR446 walkie talkies for anyone to have a play with
  • A presentation by one of the members regarding his experience of entering a radio competition during his visit to St Lucia in the Caribbean Islands.

Light refreshments and even pizza will be available. The evening will run from 7:00pm until 10:00pm, but you can come and go as you wish.

Anyone coming by car is encouraged to use the gated carpark (to avoid neighbours complaining about parking). The roads in the area tend to be very busy until at least 6:30pm, so don’t arrive too early.

If you’re using Google Maps or Waze and probably others, it seems that Google has decided that the entrance you need is in another street as two people ended up there recently, so make sure you’re going to St. Dunstan’s Road, W6 8RB, and you want the large gate in the southwest corner nearest to Beryl Road.

To access the room (and car park) you will need to be let in through the security gates. On this occasion it’s likely that there will be people in the yard who can do that, or if you’re licenced call on 145.500.

Don’t forget that the Events calendar on our website https://www.m0xhs.uk/events/ has some links at the bottom that allow you to synchronise it with Outlook, Google or iCalendar so meetings will automatically appear in your normal calendar.

As usual check the Discord server for up to the minute info and chat. Email for an invitation link if you don’t have one.
